The film is based on the non-fiction book Casino: Love and Honor in Las Vegas by Nicholas Pileggi, who also co-wrote the screenplay for the film with Scorsese.

This marks the eighth collaboration of Scorsese and De Niro, with the two previously collaborating on the another hit mafia film Goodfellas (1990). Casino is a 1995 American epic crime] drama film directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, Sharon Stone, Don Rickles, Kevin Pollak and James Woods.
